A Ship on the Water

It's time for a pirate sea chanty. ^_^

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

The sea, like a mother, has been kind to me
We voyage across her in search of booty
With treasures untold and new people to meet
She keeps us afloat because we’re her fleet
And the sun’s what we follow over her waves
We are her children. We are the brave.
Venturing to the ends of the earth
We’ve been sailors e’er since our birth

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

Our ship, she is old, and trusty, and true
Wherever she goes, adventure ensues
She keeps our hearts full of hope for the best
In distant lands, in treasure chests
In every sea shanty, in all ocean tunes
X marks the spot for every doubloon
But I wouldn’t trade all the gold in the world
For my place in this keep, or this fortune unfurled

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

My first mate, at his best has always been burly
He is my best friend, tattooed and so surly
My hook’s on the left, and he’s my right hand
If you backtalk to me, your hide will get tanned
We’ll cut you open from your heart to your shank
Or gag and blindfold you, make you walk the plank
If you know what is best, you’ll be a fast walker
And be swallowed alive by Davey Jones’ locker

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

My leg, it is pegged, my eye it is patched,
The strength of my crew can never be matched
We’ve seen folly and foul, since our crew left the land
We never lose battles when I’m in command
Those we have lost in on sea combat
Are the ones we remember when we tip our hats
For they are the ones who’ve given their all
In the longest battles, and most grueling of squalls

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

Some say we are rogues. Some say we are rovers.
We conquer the seas as our journey goes over
I’ve seen crews who’ve tried, but have met their demise
The sea took them in, their ships did capsize.
Our ship’s never failed. She’s all that I know.
Her sails up above me and cold ocean below
As the flotsam and jetsam float away in sea foam
Here I will stay, because there’s no place like home

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors
