The New Deal

Who, sir? You sir? You don't know what to do, sir?
I'll give you a clue, sir. Talk to my producer.
My heartbeat's syncopated, tongue twistin's what I do, sir
No rhythm all rhyme, all beat in no time
Close my eyes to the ceiling, I'mma sing this one with feeling
Spotlight is mine, this light it is lime
It feels so sublime, my rhyme's in its prime
Hurry, listen up, here comes a sound bite:
"Hi, I'm your emcee for tonight."
I guess the juxtaposition of my sunny disposition
As I get in this position and I pull out my dukes
Is just as alarmin' as my wit and smile are charmin'
'Cause you know I'm disarmin' when I reach for your nukes
I"ll give you something to shout about
Don't look at me like that. Don't pout your mouth
I'mma leave the room, I'mma mill about
'Cause I'm that girl! "Ooh, that kind of girl"
I'mma make you see colours you ain't ever seen
Take you to places in your heart you ain't ever been
Got my mic in my hand as I do my thing
I be yankin' tuggin' pullin' on your heartstrings
Love me if you feel, hate me 'gainst your will
Make you climb the highest mountain and yell, "Heart, be still!"
But I'm just a girl yelling into a mic
"Don't worry, love you too! HA HA! PSYCH!"
Nah, I'm just playin'. I love you all
Stop time for you 'til all it do is crawl
I hope you're feeling my love, I hope you're feeling my flow,
'Cause I'mma make you love me in super slow-mo
Frame by frame, shot by shot
Thrillin' and suspendin' an intriguin' plot
I'mma muster dialogue that make you fluster
Soundtrack make you trust'er with your next blockbuster
I'mma make the city scream, shimmy and shake
Just like an earthquake, box office will break.
I'm countin' on the fountain on
Wish I dished half the crowd on John Lennon
Or Paul, or George, or even Ringo
Just want an audience, people to sing to
'Cause i got the beat that get them out they seats
Make you drip and strip on account of the heat
I got what you need and you don't need them clothes
I got mad word play and innuendos
What's my name? "G-Spot!"
What do I rock? "The G-Spot"
Stir that drink, your stick will swizzle
When I move, you move, I'mma make you sizzle
Boy, this fire won't ever be quenched
'Til we're pantin' in a pile our bodies drenched
Make you moan, make you scream
Make you wish, make you dream
Make you turn and reach for me
But I'm just in your head, your fantasy
So, you're sick and tired of girls who are over-rated?
Spend some time with me be over compensated
Don't need to hold me, I can hold my own.
You can call my house, but I'm not at home.
"Hello, you've reached Genevieve's phone,
Please leave a message after the tone."
"I'll be out all night 'til the break of dawn,
Don't hold it against me 'cause life goes on."
So dismal and abysmal that your point of view is small
Widen your horizon, open eyes, that is all
Move to the music 'til the rhythm get in us
Stare into the sun 'til you burn your retinas
Make your heart feel, make your heart real
I'mma break the seal 'cause that's the new deal.

The Quitter

I hear you breathing
Inhale and exhale
No smoke this time,
That's me.
I French inhale as you exhale
Only air,
Only words,
Only you.
I gasp for breath.
I can only hope that
My air
And my words
could be as clean as you.

Hospital Haikus

I hate hospitals.
An eight-hour wait for treatment
is unbearable.

A tetanus shot.
All I want is to get stabbed.
I might heal better.

On a list of names,
my moniker awaits its
sterile announcement.

Her chest rattles and
her body shakes to unheard
hospital music.

Please do not worry.
I assure you that I will
be fine tomorrow.

I have a bandage.
Its not as bad as you think.
There won't be a scar.

The hospital waits
for its halls to empty of
Those waiting for it.

Rise and Fall

-I-
Rise and fall
I’ve seen civilizations
Rise and fall
Built on the backs of those stronger than me
Their buildings rose
As their spirits fell
Into hands bigger than mine
Stronger than mine
Run by men smaller than me
Built so that they could be stronger than me
And I watched them fall
Onto their knees hoping to stop the fall
Because hope was gone
And things became less civilized
Because they saw the rise and fall
Of their little lives

-II-

Rise and fall
I’ve seen people’s lives
Rise and fall
Moving to the music that’s too hard for most to hear
Too slow for us who move
Too fast for us who stay
And the melody undulates as the rhythm
Rises and falls
In the smiles and tears
Of those who are just trying to live, love, be
With the one they love
With the one who makes them live
And makes their hearts jump to that
Unpredictable rhythm
And rise and fall
To that melody

-III-

Rise and fall
I remember when our bodies used to
Rise and fall
Mimicking the tide
We would hear outside
Coming and going like a weary traveler
Memorizing the lines of the land
And the lines of my hand
Tell me I should love you
And say that this love will be cut short
But I can’t resist the rise and fall
Of your body against mine
Under the light of a crescent moon
Rising and falling
With the daunting threat of day

A Ship on the Water

It's time for a pirate sea chanty. ^_^

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

The sea, like a mother, has been kind to me
We voyage across her in search of booty
With treasures untold and new people to meet
She keeps us afloat because we’re her fleet
And the sun’s what we follow over her waves
We are her children. We are the brave.
Venturing to the ends of the earth
We’ve been sailors e’er since our birth

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

Our ship, she is old, and trusty, and true
Wherever she goes, adventure ensues
She keeps our hearts full of hope for the best
In distant lands, in treasure chests
In every sea shanty, in all ocean tunes
X marks the spot for every doubloon
But I wouldn’t trade all the gold in the world
For my place in this keep, or this fortune unfurled

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

My first mate, at his best has always been burly
He is my best friend, tattooed and so surly
My hook’s on the left, and he’s my right hand
If you backtalk to me, your hide will get tanned
We’ll cut you open from your heart to your shank
Or gag and blindfold you, make you walk the plank
If you know what is best, you’ll be a fast walker
And be swallowed alive by Davey Jones’ locker

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

My leg, it is pegged, my eye it is patched,
The strength of my crew can never be matched
We’ve seen folly and foul, since our crew left the land
We never lose battles when I’m in command
Those we have lost in on sea combat
Are the ones we remember when we tip our hats
For they are the ones who’ve given their all
In the longest battles, and most grueling of squalls

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

Some say we are rogues. Some say we are rovers.
We conquer the seas as our journey goes over
I’ve seen crews who’ve tried, but have met their demise
The sea took them in, their ships did capsize.
Our ship’s never failed. She’s all that I know.
Her sails up above me and cold ocean below
As the flotsam and jetsam float away in sea foam
Here I will stay, because there’s no place like home

The salty wind blows through my hair
As those around me solemnly swear
That the ocean is all but theirs
On a ship on the water
We’re sailors

Drift Away

I'll dream a little dream of you
And have a smoke and drink or two
And in the smoke, I'll see your face
Billow, swell, and dissipate
As I drift away.

My bones are growing older now
Friends fade away, I don't know how
To hold on with these sleeping eyes
Perhaps a blessing in disguise
Lets me drift away.

I talk to strangers, who relate,
Debate, complain, commiserate.
As I inhale this acrid air
Pinch me, so I know you're not there.
And I can drift away.

The constellations spell your name
As Orion takes careful aim
To shoot a star across the skies
And hit me straight between the eyes
The heavens explode
In celestial nodes
The skies won't ever be the same

Sleep calls me on a tin can phone
I hear it o'er the city's drone
This is where I rest my head
My eyes feel weighted down with lead
As I drift away

I'll dream a little dream of you
You wave goodbye and say 'adieu'
Then I smile and blow a kiss
Remember, love, and reminisce.
I let you drift away.

As I drift away.

Fight Tonight

I'm so friggin' gangster. I wrote this on a whim one day. It started off as one set of rhymes, then escalated into awesomeness...
PS, I'm not really this angry. ^_^

Hickory dickory motherfuckin' dock
Get out the way, I'mma clean yo clock
With rhymes so ill, my values are shocked
Don't be so sad that your obituary's locked
Don't be full of sorrow
That it gonna print tomorrow
'Cause there's gonna be a fight tonight

You roll into the club true playa fo' real
Cozy up to all the girls, so you can cop a feel
Who you think you are tryin' that same shit on me?
You picked the wrong girl, and soon you will see
There ain't nothing worse than a wannabe,
And now I unleash the fists of fury
I'm sorry, son, but you're looking to expire
Gonna need a new nose, and get your jaw wired
And before you know it, the lights will fade
I'mma kick your fucking ass back to the first grade

I might not be a gangster, but I am tonight,
So, put up your fucking fists. C'mon let's fight!

Some say I rock, but I roll a little better
I'll drop you like a rock, as I float up like a feather
I'mma stomp yo face 'cause ain't nobody want it
Fell out the ugly tree and hit e'ery branch on it
You think I'm a bitch? I'm just keepin' it real
But sorry, I like guys who have sex appeal
You think you're bringin' the noise? You think you're bringin' the funk?
You're lucky you ain't chopped up and locked up in my trunk.
You think that this, this is the end of this?
You'll be singing other songs when you kiss my fist.

I might not be a gangster, but I am tonight,
So, put up your fucking fists. C'mon let's fight!

Put your fucking gat down, you fucking pussy!
What the fuck you trying to do? Fucking push me?
You're fighting with a girl and you pull out your gun?
Didn't yo mamma teach you manners? That's okay, son
You don't hit girls. That's the first lesson
But I guess in your case, I can make an exception
There is etiquette if you don't wanna get
Yo fucking ass beat by an angry chick.
The only thing worse than seeing a grown man cry
Is his head under my foot, saying he wants to die

I might not be a gangster, but I am tonight,
So, put up your fucking fists. C'mon let's fight!

An Oldie, but Goodie

I wrote this a while back. My friends posed a challenge to me to write a song that could be performed in either swing or hip-hop. BOOM! SUCCESS! Here it is.

I'm tweakin' every weekend before it gets dark,
Hanging with Johnny and Jack in the park.
Follow up with Jose Cuervo, a good friend of mine
Me and Cap'n Morgan will share a good time.
If you've got one light it, pass it to the left.
If you're hanging with my friends, well that's enough said
They ain't bad habits 'cause they ain't bad friends
They just have sway and great influence

(Sadly, I'm going from memory and I can't remember the choruses -__-)

I know my soul is empty and my brain is dead,
but it keeps my stomach full and my spirit fed.
Gonna drink when I'm thirsty and smoke when I'm not.
I'll be trippin' around downtown 'til I'm shot or I'm caught.
Don't fuss and don't fight, don't light it on fire.
As the night gets longer we get higher and higher.
If I don't toast MJ, she won't toast me.
What? Waste my night? Fuck you! BLASPHEMY!

Brad is my homeboy, but Jimi's the shit
says, "Joey's got a gun, so don't fuck with it"
Bobby was a soldier, Floyd has a darkside
If you're kicking it with them its one hell of a ride.
You think I'm alcoholic? I think you're a prude.
Alcoholics go to meetings. I'm a drunk, dude!
They ain't bad habits cause they ain't bad friends.
They just have sway and great influence.

You think I drink too much.
I think you think too much.
You think that I am wasted.
You just can't wait to taste it.
You want to be like me.
I just want to be free.
You wish that I was sober.
I tell you, 'It ain't over!'
I'll down another 40.
You tell me I'll be sorry.
I'm sitting at that table
You tell me I'm unstable,
Staring at that empty can,
with my head in my hands
